God’s Super Bowl Line Up

Blessings Friends,

We interrupt this message in Amos for an important announcement from our Sponsor.

My husband has brought me to Spokane, WA for some Birthday pampering, and who does God put me in the sauna with, but the beautiful mother-in-law and sister-in-law of Capt. Scott Smiley. Author of Hope Unseen, Scott was blinded in Iraq while saving his platoon. Check out his testimony through these links. I can’t wait to read the book!

As we shared stories, me with cancer, and Scott with his injury, we found a common theme. Lying in recovery, the question we both asked was, “How can God possibly use me, now?”

Let me tell you, I’m no football fan, but God must be. He made me see that many of us think we’re in the game, doing the best we can when, WHAM! We get blindsided, and to all appearances taken out of the game. Then we ask, “How am I supposed to play, now?”

Unfortunately, a lot of people just leave the field at that point. Game over. But if we give God a chance, we’ll see Him walking across the field toward us with a new playbook in hand. And trust me, our God has plays we can’t even imagine!

Those who wait for The Lord’s playbook, are the players who make it to God’s Super Bowl. With skills they never even knew they had. Skills manifested in them by The Holy Spirit.

“Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ’s sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.” 2 Corinthians 12:10

I’m sure any Super Bowl player will tell you, getting there isn’t the end of the journey, but just the beginning. Though our team is decidedly stacked with the world’s all-time best quarterback (Jesus), we still have to give it all we’ve got. We still have to receive the passes and get the ball into the end zone.

I can’t believe He’s making me think about football on my Birthday trip.

I was a cheerleader, however, so in that spirit,

LET’S GO! LET’S FIGHT! LET’S WIN!

And, here I thought I came to see Ken Davis and John Branyan, who by the way, were absolutely hysterical!

God’s grace and peace be yours,

Rebecca
