Promise of the Day: Proverbs 12:21

in Promise of the Day

Today’s promise is Proverbs 12:21:

“No grave trouble will overtake the righteous,
But the wicked shall be filled with evil.”No Grave Trouble

I can’t help but wonder if the Apostle John was thinking about this promise as he was lowered into a cauldron of boiling oil. To the ordinary man, being boiled in oil might have the appearance of “grave trouble.” But John was no ordinary man. He was passionate in his love for Jesus and he was filled with the Holy Spirit. Because of this, he was given the understanding that it wasn’t his flesh that mattered, but his eternal soul. This shift in perspective is vital if we are to serve the Lord with abandon, trusting our physical well-being to be used for His glory. And our new glorified bodies to stand as everlasting testimonies to God’s goodness.

Heavenly Father, thank You for covering me with the righteousness of Christ. Please fill me with Your Spirit, and lead me into all truth according the promise of Your Son. Help me keep my eyes fixed on You, that I may serve You with abandon. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Have a victorious day in The Lord!
