Blessings!

Today’s promise is Titus 3:5, 6:

“Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior.”

Cast Out

Righteousness by works has always been one of the greatest lies hindering in the Body of Christ. However, it is often a symptom of a much deeper problem. Rebellion. As long as I’m busy doing “God’s work,” I don’t have time to think about the state of my soul. I don’t have to deal with the unpleasant and messy business of conviction, repentance, and deliverance from hidden sin. Religion is much more comfortable than regeneration, or sanctification. Unfortunately, they are not interchangeable.

Our sanctification was God’s purpose in sending His Son to die for us. That we would be one with Him, so that His Spirit could guide and empower our works. The works we do are to originate from the Father and move through us. They must be an outward expression of the indwelling Spirit of God, if they are to be effective.

Trying to bypass sanctification with works is not only futile, it’s nothing short of defiance. It’s basically saying, “Thanks, God, but I’m going to do it my way.” That didn’t work out so well for Adam and Eve. Why would it work us?

Heavenly Father, thank You for making a way for me to be close to You. I know there are attitudes, habits, and false beliefs I hold onto that keep that from happening. These things have given me a sense of false security in the past, but I’m ready to lay them down. I know You alone can protect me, and I submit to You completely now. Holy Spirit, I’m listening. Please show me what I need to let go of, that I might have more room in me for more of You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Have a victorious day in The Lord!

Rebecca
